Wildlife Friendly Planting Project

This would-be meadow had lost its way a little. We started to dig it over and remove the running grasses and deep-rooted weeds.

We then replanted the wild and wildlife-friendly flowering plants we’d found both here and elsewhere in the garden, working with rather than against the microclimates in the meadow plot and choosing shade tolerant and drought tolerant species for the shady spots underneath a tree.

These wildlife friendly plants are now establishing and the owners are hand-pulling weeds and couch grass to favour the plants they want to encourage.

By midsummer it was a riot. Here’s to next year being even better!
